It’s time to lace up those walking shoes and get ready for the fourth annual Walk Indiana on Sept. 14, 2013.
Walk Indiana has continued to grow since its beginning in 2010, not only in the number of participants, but the miles walked. Many of our return walkers started with the quarter marathon and moved up to the half and full marathons in the years following.
Don’t wait to start your training. If you’re looking for a training partner, join us at the Downtown Y at 5:15 every Wednesday for a free one-hour training session. On the second Saturday of every month beginning March 9, participants can build up their miles while walking along the Cardinal Greenway. If you’re walking on your own, don’t forget to check out our training guides under the “training” tab at the top of the page.
Walk Indiana is a walking-only event, offering distances of a quarter marathon (6.5 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles) and full (26.2 miles). If you’re just starting your walking regimen, a 5K distance was introduced in 2012.
Registration kickoff will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. March 9 at the Cardinal Depot, 700 E. Wysor St. Registration remains open under the “registration tab” from March 9 through Sept. 4, 2013.
Your suggestions and feedback are welcome. Keep walking!
