What an accomplishment! Whether you walked 3.1 miles or 26.2, you have taken the first steps toward a lifetime of fun and fitness. And what a way to celebrate! On Sept. 14 you joined 700 new friends on this wellness journey, and East Central Indiana is now well on its way to a healthier future.
We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Beautiful weather, enthusiastic volunteers, and of course, our walkers! But remember, that was just one day. To truly benefit from your participation, keep walking. You may be tempted to rest after your accomplishment, especially as the cold weather hits. Don’t! You’ve already created a walking routine, and it’s much easier to maintain that routine than to start all over again in the spring!
We encourage you to set a goal for your next walk today. Think about building on your most recent success – if you did the quarter marathon, shoot for the half in 2014. You can find training guides on this website under “training.”
If you’re looking for company, join us on Wednesday evenings at 5:15 p.m. outside the downtown Y as we continue our weekly one-hour walks. While the weather allows it, we’ll walk outside. Once it turns too cold, we’ll move inside to the track – free of charge for Walk Indiana participants.
Registration for our fifth anniversary walk in 2014 will kick off in March. Stay tuned for details at walkindiana.org.
Your feedback is welcome. Keep walking!
